Scouting Reports- WR Dontrelle Inman Virginia Has good size. Has good speed and athletic ability. Is able to get some separation. At times he was the go to guy. Shows good body control and will make some difficult catches. Catches the ball well and will compete for it. Could use more strength. Can get bounced or pushed off his route too easily. Doesn't get a lot after the catch. Doesn't always do a good job of holding onto the ball. Weird plays seem to follow him. Is a little under the radar. Has good raw abilities but will need some time to get stronger and improve the intricacies of the position. Lester Jean Florida Atlantic Has decent size. Was the team's go to guy. Catches the ball ok. Has good speed and can take it the distance. Has some strength and will catch the ball over the middle. Isn't real elusive in the open field. Doesn't always play with good effort. Jerrel Jernigan Troy Short WR with really good speed and quickness. Is a dangerous player in the open field with good make you miss ability. Is a good return guy who can contribute there on the next level. Will catch the ball over the middle. Rarely caught the ball more than ten yards downfield. Most of his routes were bubble screens and dump offs. Doesn't have a lot of experience on downfield routes or with getting in and out of breaks. Struggles to get separation downfield and can be a hard target to find due to his lack of height. Doesn't appear to have great strength and could struggle to stay on his routes against physical defenders. Will drop a number of passes either due to concentration or lack of natural hands. Doesn't have much size to be an effective blocker. Could be a durability concern with his size and has been nicked up at times throughout his career. Really didn't dominate in big games or against better competition. Is able to make defenders miss on his level but there is a concern that in the NFL he will be less effective in this area, which is a concern because that is such a big part of his game since he doesn't do much down the field. I am in the minority but I feel that he is a little overrated. He isn't Steve Smith, a player that can stretch the field and make plays vertically and horizontally; he is a player that an offensive coordinator will have to be creative with to create opportunities. However, he will likely get drafted like he is Steve Smith. Bart Johnson TCU Undersized guy who has good quickness. Catches the ball well and gets yards after the catch. Is a tough guy who plays hard. Might not have the ability for the next level but definitely worth a look. Dominique Johnson Cal-Poly Has good size. Transferred from UCLA. Has decent speed for someone his size. Runs by his competition and therefore they liked to run him on go routes. Didn't run many routes over the middle of the field. Will go up and get the ball. Isn't too bad in and out of breaks. Developmental type who will have to prove that he can catch the ball over the middle. Ronald Johnson USC Has decent size. Is not elite at anything but is above average at everything. Good speed and quickness. Is good in and out of breaks and can get some separation. Is a good route runner. Isn't overly elusive but gets yards after the catch. Is a decent punt returner. Is a good blocker. Looks like he could develop into a solid #2 receiver. Loses focus from time to time during the game. Seems like he has at least one bad play per game, whether it is a bad dropped pass, a fumble or a dumb penalty. Has had durability issues that might affect his stock. He tore knee ligaments in high school, broke his collarbone in 2009 and had elbow and wrist issues in 2010. Trae Johnson Tulsa Undersized receiver who has some quickness. Doesn't make many catches down the field. Doesn't get a whole lot of yards after the catch. Was not a main target in the passing game. Almost seems to have regressed this past season. Derrell Johnson-Koulianos Iowa Has good size. This past season was a really good all-around WR. Has decent speed and good quickness. Does an excellent job of getting separation and is open a lot. Is a fluid athlete and catches the ball well. Makes things happen with the ball in his hands. Is a good blocker. Was on his way to being a second round pick who has the ability to be a starter but then was arrested. Was charged with keeping a drug house amongst other charges. All the charges were dropped except the possession charge, which he plead guilty to. It is not known how this will affect his pro prospects but my gut says that a team might roll the dice on him in the seventh round. Gerald Jones Tennessee Good college player who is a little undersized. Has decent speed and quickness but nothing special. Hands are a little inconsistent, especially after he had a plate and screw implanted in his hand. Has been productive throughout his college career. Does a decent job getting open. Has been injury prone. Seems to be playing with an injury every year. Julio Jones Alabama Has really good size and athleticism. Is a big, strong receiver with some length. Hard to contain downfield because he is big, tall and can jump. Ran really fast at the combine but he doesn't play at that speed. Still, he has enough speed to stretch the field. Is a really good blocker, probably the best in the draft. Is really tough. Has played through a number of injuries including the combine where he put up tremendous numbers despite a hairline fracture in his foot. Is physical and can create separation with his strength. Also will break some tackles. Needs to catch the ball more consistently. Seems like he loses concentration from time to time and drops too many passes. Also has durability concerns because it seems like he is always dealing with something. Top 10 talent. Cameron Kenney Oklahoma Has decent size. Didn't make much of an impact until the final three games of the season, but was huge in those games. Doesn't have great speed but has good speed. Runs decent routes and will come back to help the QB. Catches the ball well. Was able to get a few catches on Prince Amukamara in one of those final three games. Gives decent effort blocking but isn't great at it. Was a JUCO guy and might have just gotten lost in the shuffle at Oklahoma. Has some ability and could develop into a backup but will have to make the team as an undrafted guy. Jeremy Kerley TCU Undersized receiver who is dangerous in the open field. Has really good quickness and consistently makes defenders miss in the open field. Pretty quick in and out of breaks and can create separation. Has decent but not elite speed. Has good feet and was the team's go to guy. Has good toughness and isn't afraid to go across the middle. Needs to be a little more consistent catching the ball. Isn't bad but will drop some and from time to time will fumble. Lack of size could be an issue which might relegate him to the slot. Is a good punt returner and could help there. Solid player who help on special teams and on offense. James Kirkendoll Texas Undersized receiver who has a little big play ability. Inconsistent catching the ball. Is a questionable route runner. Gives good effort blocking but lacks size to be real effective. Missed time in 2007 with a hip injury. Jeremy LaFrance Akron Has decent size. Was the team's go to guy. Does a good job coming back for the ball. Catches the ball ok but might have weak hands. At times will have the ball knocked out of his hands. Gives good effort and has decent ability. Missed a little time this past season with a knee injury. Lyle Leong Texas Tech Is a little short and really skinny. Little bit of a system guy. Can find holes in the zone. Catches the ball well. Would disappear for stretches but was typically their big play guy. Has a nose for the endzone. Has a little quickness and speed. Not overly special but was productive. Hasn't been able to run for scouts due to a hamstring injury. Could get a shot as an undrafted guy. Detron Lewis Texas Tech Has good size. Has good straight speed and has decent feet. Doesn't show a lot of shiftiness. Needs to improve his route running. Has a tendency to round his routes. Didn't run a ton of NFL type routes in college. Was inconsistent catching the ball. Is a good blocker. Has some ability but will need some work. Greg Little North Carolina Has really good size and athleticism. Has good body control and can make the spectacular catch. Comes down with the ball in tight quarters and isn't afraid to go across the middle. Has good leaping ability and can win jump balls. Is a former RB who only played WR one year at North Carolina. Shows his RB skills in the open field. Has some shiftiness and runs with good power. Has good speed but not elite speed. Is a little raw as a route runner and needs work there. Didn't play this past season due to suspension from the NCAA for inappropriate relationship with an agent. I really thought that he was the top senior WR entering this season but he didn't get an opportunity to show development and secure a first round grade. He did look good at the combine but a year of inactivity is always a concern. He reminds me some of Cris Carter and could be a bargain in the middle rounds if he can pick up where he left off. Phillip Livas Louisiana Tech Undersized return guy who doesn't have great speed. Lacks explosiveness but has good vision and runs hard. Is tough and can be difficult to bring down but is also a little injury prone. Doesn't offer a lot as a receiver. Doesn't attack the ball in the air. Is a small target and lacks elite speed. Has durability issues dealing with turf toe, ankle injury and concussion in the last two years. Good college player who might lack the ability needed for the next level. Ricardo Lockette Ft. Valley St Has good size and really good speed. Track guy who won the DII national championship in the 200. Inconsistent route runner and has inconsistent hands. Will be making a huge jump in competition but has special ability. Has experience returning kickoffs which he might need to go while he develops. Good developmental prospect. Jeff Maehl Oregon Has decent height but lacks some bulk. Is a scrappy player who does a good job of getting open and creating separation. Is physical and tough. Despite his lack of bulk he is a good blocker. Is typically the go to guy and does a good job of making plays in the clutch. His hands are a little inconsistent. Solid player who might be a good slot receiver. Chris Matthews Kentucky Has really good size and decent speed. Little bit of an inconsistent performer. Would be almost invisible in some games and be dominant in others. Might have inconsistent focus. Will make a nice hands catch and then follow it up with a pass bouncing off his shoulder pads. At times he does a good job of getting open and finding holes in the zone. Could be a potential possession type receiver. Might be a bit of a character issue. Really caught my attention on the South Carolina game but then really turned me off during the Vandy game. Had a penalty for throwing the ball after his TD, didn't show any emotion when he dropped passes and his team scored a TD right near where he was blocking and he didn't celebrate with his team at all; he just walked off the field by himself almost looking like he wasn't happy that he didn't get the ball. Missed the first quarter of the Mississippi St game this past season due to a unspecified violation of team rules. Definitely has some ability but needs to be much more consistent to play on the next level. Eddie McGee Illinois Former QB who has great size and good athleticism. Has a strong arm but was plagued with INTs but could use him on trick plays. Has good speed and is coordinated. Has good hands and is a decent blocker. Didn't take his game to the next level this past season like I thought he would. Ended up playing a bit of QB but he still wasn't a consistent threat as a receiver. Wasn't able to get much separation. Has ability but needs development. Scotty McKnight Colorado Productive college player who plays much bigger than he is. Will really go up and get the ball. Does a good job shielding the defender from the ball. Runs good routes and comes back for the ball. Catches the ball well. Just lacks speed and quickness. Struggles to get separation. Isn't a deep threat and doesn't get a lot of yards after the catch. Possession type receiver who might lack the athleticism needed for the next level but is too productive to ignore. Carl Moore Florida Has good size. Is a good target and has good strength. Catches the ball well. Lacks speed and doesn't get much after the catch. At times he struggles to get separation. More of a possession type receiver but might not be special enough for the next level. Missed 2009 with a back injury and also missed time due to personal issues. Also was ejected from the Appalachian St game this year for fighting, so there may be some character concerns. Denarius Moore Tennessee Is a little undersized. Really improved a lot during his senior year. Runs good routes and has good quickness in and out of breaks. Generally catches ball well. Will make the difficult catch. Sets defender up well and is able to get deep despite lacking elite speed. Lacks bulk and could struggle to withstand punishment on next level. Also isn't a real good blocker. Could be a decent slot guy who could develop into a #2. Terrance Moore California (PA) Has decent height but is really skinny. Has some athletic ability but isn't overly explosive. Didn't completely dominate his level of competition this past year and almost seemed like he regressed some. Has some ability but is also pretty careless with the ball. Could be a developmental type but will have to really step up his play. Joe Morgan Walsh Small school guy who has bounced around some. Started at Illinois, transferred to Kent St and then ended up at Walsh. Has decent height but lacks a little bulk. Has been a little injury prone. Name of his game is speed. Good athlete who was also a long jump champion. Is really raw and will be making a big jump in competition. In his favor is that he does have some experience as a kickoff returner. Interesting developmental type who might be able to contribute on special teams while he develops. O.J. Murdock Ft. Hays St Is a little undersized. Small school player who dominated his level of competition. Was generally faster and quicker than the competition. That athletic ability translates well to the next level. Might need time to develop. He struggled to make any impact at the Shrine Bowl. Struggles to get off the line of scrimmage and was a little overwhelmed there. Catches the ball better. Isn't much of a blocker but will stand in the way. Has really good athletic ability, will just need time to develop. Is a little older and has had a long journey. Originally signed with South Carolina but after a redshirt season he was arrested for shoplifting and was suspended. He transferred to a junior college and broke his collarbone. Tried to transfer to Marshall but ended up failing to qualify academically. Reportedly then got his life together and became more focused with led to his opportunity at Ft. Hays St. Still the injury and off the field concerns will have to be looked at. Juan Nunez Western Michigan Has decent height but lacks some bulk. Has average speed but has really good hands. Isn't overly big but does a good job shielding the defender from the ball. Will make the difficult catch. Doesn't always get good separation. Does a good job finding the holes in the zone. Is a little under the radar and could get a look as a possession receiver. Niles Paul Nebraska Has good size and athletic ability. Has decent speed. Is a good kickoff returner and punt returner. Is a little thick and can be hard to bring down. Has the ability to be a really good special teams coverage player. Is physical. Really good blocker on the outside. Generally catches the ball well but doesn't get a lot of opportunities in this offense. Didn't jump out and get noticed at the Senior Bowl, which was the first game back from breaking his foot at the end of the season. Has some off the field alcohol concerns. In 2009 was arrested for suspicion of DUI and in 2010 he was arrested for underage consumption and urinating in public. Has good physical skills and can contribute on special teams as he develops as a receiver. Austin Pettis Boise St Has really good size. Runs decent routes and presents a good target for the QB. Catches the ball in traffic really well. Does a good job boxing out defenders. Will go up and get the ball. Can be a really good redzone threat. Good possession type receiver. Doesn't have great speed or quickness. Is slow in and out of breaks and doesn't get much separation. Lacks speed to stretch the field. Possession type receiver who can be a threat in the redzone and can help on special teams. Kealoha Pilares Hawaii Former RB who has played WR for only two years. Really improved this past season. Is built like a RB and has a strong lower half. Has RB skills in the open field. Has good quickness and speed and can take it the distance. Catches the ball well. Is just starting to scratch the surface. Has improved a lot but will still need some work, especially adjusting to a pro system. Good developmental type who could develop into a weapon out of the slot. Jessie Poku Eastern New Mexico Small school player who dominated his level of competition. Also performed well in the Cactus Bowl. Has good size and decent athleticism. Has good speed. Was able to get good separation on his level but might struggle a little on the next level. Catches the ball well. Has good build and seems to have decent strength. Plays on special teams and might be able to contribute there as he develops.
