Scouting Reports- T

A-H / I-P / Q-Z

Mike Ingersoll                                                                                                                      North Carolina

Has good size.  Is not a knee bender and plays too high.  Struggles to anchor and has slow feet.  Quick players beat him consistently.  Doesn't get much movement in run blocking.  Not much of a prospect.

Rich Lapham                                                                                                                        Boston College

Really large man who plays with some nastiness.  Is really strong and will toss defenders around.  Plays too high and struggles with speed off the corner.  Struggles in open space and doesn't redirect well.  Will get a shot as a physical RT but will need to play with better agility.

Laupepa Letuli                                                                                                                                   Hawaii

Has good size.  Seems to have decent strength.  Really has slow feet and really struggles with quickness off the corner.  Struggles a lot in pass protection.  Not a great knee bender.  Could possibly get a look at G but his game might not translate well there.  Decent college player who might lack the athleticism needed for next level.

Butch Lewis                                                                                                                                            USC

Has decent height.  Has bounced around between G and T throughout his college career.  Plays the game more like a T.  Has some athleticism but it doesn't translate onto the field because he plays so high.  Is not a knee bender and at times he just stands straight up and tries to hold his position.  Doesn't show real good recognition and doesn't always block the right guy.  Despite his lack of bulk, he does a decent job anchoring in pass protection.  Has decent strength.  Has some athletic ability but his play on the field leaves a lot to be desired.

DeMarcus Love                                                                                                                             Arkansas

Big guy who has a lot of experience.  Has good length.  At times will flash good feet and athleticism for someone his size but at other times he will labor and look slow.  Really struggles to readjust and doesn't have good balance.  Was protected some in the system he played in but was really exposed at the Senior Bowl.  Really struggled in pass protection against top competition.  Doesn't have the ability to play LT.  Decent run blocker who has good strength.  Likes to finish blocks.  Has surprising in the box quickness and can get to the second level but struggles in open space.  Strictly a RT who could also get a look at G.

Evan Marchal                                                                                                                                     UNLV

Big guy who has decent strength and plays with a little nastiness.  Is not a good knee bender and has slow feet.  Struggles with speed off the corner and also really struggles to redirect so he is susceptible to inside moves as well.  At times he will stand straight up off the snap.  Gives good effort though and will battle.  Solid college player who might lack the athletic ability needed.

Rob McGill                                                                                                                           Louisiana Tech

Has good size with long arms.  Has decent foot quickness and covers more ground than you would think.  At times will leave the underneath open.  Is more of a waist bender.  System in college helped him some in pass protection because they got rid of the ball quickly.  Solid job as a run blocker.  Has decent strength and size.  Played LT in college but is a better fit on the right side.  Could end up as a potential backup at both sides.  Good college player with good ability who might hear his name called late in the draft.

Eric Mensik                                                                                                                                  Oklahoma

Former TE who has really good height.  Really lacks bulk but has the frame to add some.  Has decent athleticism and knee bend.  He really struggles in pass protection.  Has a tendency to get caught flat footed.  He doesn't have real good feet and he struggles to anchor.  Is aggressive but isn't all that productive as a run blocker or pass protector.  His play on the field is uninspiring but he has some athleticism and doesn't have much experience at the position.  Will get a look as a developmental type.

David Mims                                                                                                                           Virginia Union

Mountain of a man with long arms.  Has decent athletic ability.  Slides well and can move.  Is a waist bender.  Has long arms but doesn't use them.  Plays pretty soft.  Is not physical or aggressive and often catches defenders.  Might not have the right demeanor but has really intriguing physical ability.

Scott Mitchell                                                                                                                                         Rice

Has good height but really lacks bulk.  Doesn't appear to have great strength.  Is physical and is a decent run blocker because he plays with pretty good leverage and plays to the whistle.  Doesn't have great lateral quickness.  Is really limited athletically but was fairly productive.  If brought to camp, he could also get a look at C or G.

Darius Morris                                                                                                                                    Temple

Has good size with long arms.  Has some athletic ability.  Is a decent run blocker who is pretty good blocking in space for a large man.  Is a waist bender and doesn't have quick feet.  Got a lot of help from TEs in pass protection and might struggle out there on his own.  Has some potential as a RT but will need time to develop.

Matt Murphy                                                                                                                                      UNLV

Has decent size.  Played LT but doesn't have the feet to stay there and has marginal feet for RT.  Could get a look inside at G but he seems to lack strength and isn't able to get much movement in his blocking.  Decent college player who might lack the ability needed for the next level.

Derek Newton                                                                                                                           Arkansas St

Has good size and long arms.  Has good athletic ability and flashes good feet.  Battles to maintain good technique and is effective when he does.  When he gets tired he has the tendency to play high and bend at the waist.  Every now and then he gets caught reaching for the defender.  Was a much better player this past season than he was the year before.  Decent blocker who will struggle sometimes with a defender straight up on him.  Could add some strength.  Good developmental prospect who might also be able to play some G as well.

Brent Osborne                                                                                                                                 Harvard

Has a decent frame but really lacks bulk.  Has good athleticism and is flexible.  Runs well and plays with decent knee bend.  Has decent feet and is fairly aggressive.  The main problem is his lack of bulk.  Even on his level of competition he really struggles to get any movement in his run blocking and he really struggles to anchor in pass protection.  Has good ability but at this time he really lacks the bulk needed for the next level.

Ryan Palmer                                                                                                                                       Illinois

RT with good size.  Has decent strength.  Is a little stiff and is not much of a knee bender.  Doesn't have the quickest feet and really struggles with speed off the corner.  Limited athlete who was a good college player.  Might lack the ability needed but will get an opportunity and has a chance.

Trent Perkins                                                                                                         Texas A&M- Kingsville

Has good size.  Transferred from Oklahoma St.  Doesn't move real well and has slow feet.  Was productive on his level but will be making a big jump in competition.  Marginal prospect who may get a look as a developmental guy.

Mike Person                                                                                                                               Montana St

Has decent height but could use a little more bulk.  Plays with a wide base.  Is really aggressive and physical.  Is a little limited athletically.  Doesn't have great lateral speed.  Was good on his level of competition but might struggle some in pass protection on the next level.  Will likely get an opportunity at RT or G as an undrafted guy.

Jason Pinkston                                                                                                                              Pittsburgh

Has decent size with long arms.  Has good athleticism.  Doesn't have elite feet but has good feet.  Good job of keeping between defender and QB.  Has a good punch and is physical.  Struggles some against fast defenders.  Has good initial quickness but feet slow down the further the play goes.  Anchors well.  Good run blocker who is physical and can deliver some pancakes.  Can get to the second level.  Has good strength.  Underrated player who will never be an elite player but could be a solid player on the next level.  Has the ability to play either T position and probably either G position, with RT likely to be his best spot.

Curt Porter                                                                                                                            Jacksonville St

Has good size.  Is tall with good strength.  On his level he could dominate a defender if he got his hands on them.  Does a good job anchoring in pass protection.  Plays too high and at times is a waist bender.  Has slow feet and may struggle in pass protection at the tackle position.  Has a little bit of experience inside at G.  Plays a little high there.  Was a good run blocker on his level and performed well against his top competition.  Is a good developmental prospect who needs to play with better technique and balance.  In his favor is that he might be able to contribute at both RT and G.
