Scouting Reports- DT

A-H / I-P / Q-Z

Terron Sanders                                                                                                                                  Florida

Has decent size and plays with decent pad level.  In the box type player who doesn't get down the line real well but gives good effort.  Lacks great quickness and isn't much of a passrusher.  Good college player who might lack the athleticism needed for the next level.

Jonah Sataraka                                                                                                                                    Idaho

Undersized guy who lacks bulk.  Battles to hold the point of attack with mixed results.  At times he can be turned.  Has a little quickness and will make some plays.  Lack of bulk hurts him on next level but he plays hard.

Damik Scafe                                                                                                                         Boston College

Has decent height but lacks bulk.  Tough, high motor guy who will battle.  Still struggles some at the point of attack.  Has a little quickness off the snap.  Decent college player who will battle to be a rotational guy.

Lawon Scott                                                                                                                                 Mississippi

Big guy who can anchor in the middle.  Run plugger who doesn't run real well.  Looked better in 2009 than he did this past season.  Doesn't offer much against the pass.  Doesn't really make many plays overall because he also doesn't do a good job getting off blocks.  Has some potential as a run stopper but needs to be more productive.

Almondo Sewell                                                                                                                                   Akron

Undersized guy who is a decent athlete.  Can run a little and has really good weight room strength.  Despite strength he still struggles at the point of attack because he lacks bulk and doesn't shed blocks real well.  Plays with good effort and will make tackles downfield.  Could be a developmental prospect because he has intriguing raw skills.

Sealver Siligi                                                                                                                                          Utah

Has decent size and seems really strong.  Has a decent punch and keeps blockers off his body.  Plays with good effort and will chase a play but is strictly an in the box player.  Plays like a true NT but might lack the size there.  Has a little quickness off the snap but really doesn't have much range.  Offers nothing in the way of pass rush.  Could make it as a backup NT.

Josh Smith                                                                                                                               East Carolina

Undersized guy with a high motor.  Plays really hard and makes plays but is a limited prospect.  Really lacks bulk and struggles at the point of attack.  Doesn't have any length to move somewhere else.  Doesn't look the part at all but has been too productive to completely dismiss.

Adrian Taylor                                                                                                                                Oklahoma

Looked like a decent prospect in 2009 before he broke his leg.  Had good size and strength and showed some explosiveness.  Has long arms and was really physical.  Since the injury he has been a shell of his former self.  Doesn't have that explosiveness he once had.  Didn't really contribute, would just stand around the line of scrimmage and limp around the field.  Either he hasn't recovered from the previous injury or he had more during this past season.  By the end of the year he could hardly run around.  Some team might gamble on him returning to form but he didn't show any sense of recovery throughout the whole year.

Phil Taylor                                                                                                                                           Baylor

Massive man who moves really well for someone his size.  Has really good strength and can dominate the middle of the line.  Has height, bulk, long arms and can run.  Has good quickness who has some ability to get sideline to sideline.  Handles double teams well but every now and then will run around blocks.  Has the potential to be an elite player in the NFL.  Could benefit from losing a little weight as he has a tendency to wear down during the game.  Started career at Penn St but transferred after he was in a fight in the student union.  Has some risk but has an awful lot of upside.

Arthur Thomas                                                                                                            Arkansas- Pine Bluff

Lacks bulk, speed and quickness but really battles and plays hard.  Decent job holding the point of attack and taking on double teams.  Doesn't look the part but was productive and might get a shot.

Cedric Thornton                                                                                                             Southern Arkansas

Has decent size.  Is really quick off the snap.  Quickness is the name of his game.  Dominated his level of competition because he was quicker and bigger than everyone else.  Quickness gave some blockers at the senior bowl some problems.  Is raw and needs to do a better job of getting off blocks and needs to develop some secondary moves.  Right now if he doesn't beat a blocker with quickness he is toast.  Doesn't always lay with good balance.  Has all the raw ability to be a DT in the NFL but will need time to develop.

Matangi Tonga                                                                                                                                Houston

Has decent but not great size.  Has a little quickness in the box.  Is tough and plays hard.  Has good strength but gets driven out of play too much.  Has some potential but needs a lot of work.

Teryl White                                                                                                              North Carolina Central

Undersized small school player who lacks bulk.  Has some athletic ability but really struggles to anchor.  Is a little thin through the lower body.  Isn't athletic enough to move to DE.  Good small school player who might lack the ability needed for the next level.

Colby Whitlock                                                                                                                           Texas Tech

Former wrestler who plays with really good leverage.  Has decent size.  Has good upper body strength and is tough to move from the inside.  Is more athletic than he is given credit for, showing the ability to run down ball carriers all over the field.  Gets off blocks and makes a lot of plays against the run.  Doesn't have great quickness but makes his presence felt against the pass.  Really solid player who is a little underrated and will be a really good pro.

Muhammed Wilkerson                                                                                                                     Temple

Really good combination of size, length and athleticism.  Has long arms and uses them well.  Is versatile, being able to play inside in a 4-3 scheme and at DE in a 3-4 scheme.  Runs well and makes a lot of plays.  Was dominant at times.  Has really good strength.  Has quickness and speed and can really get after the QB.  Is still a little raw, having tremendous upside.  Has the potential to be an elite player in the NFL if a team is willing to be a little patient with him.

Ian Williams                                                                                                                              Notre Dame

Squat player with good strength.  Really has the look of a 3-4 NT.  Is hard to move from the middle.  Typically fires low off the ball.  Plays with good effort and recognition.  Has a little bit of quickness and can pressure the QB a little.  Doesn't always play with good balance and can get knocked to the ground from time to time.  Doesn't always get himself into top shape which could be a concern when he starts making the big bucks.  Has the ability to play NT in the NFL as long as he is motivated.

Marcellis Williamson                                                                                                                             Ohio

Is short and wide.  Has natural leverage and is hard to move from the middle.  Has some in the box quickness and will hustle.  Will make tackles downfield.  On his level of competition he was able to apply a little pressure on the QB but doesn't figure as much of a passrusher on the next level.  Looked good at the end of 2009 but failed to continue to develop this past year.  Undrafted type who may get a chance as a developmental NT.

Brandon Wood                                                                                                                                  Georgia

Is a tweener who lacks some size inside and lacks explosiveness for outside.  Plays with good effort but might lack the ability needed for the next level.
